I grew up in a duck hunting household. Dad was a weekend warrior- he had two duck boats, a garage full of floater decoys, and a die-hard yellow lab named Toby. We the grasslands of California’s Central Valley and the tidal wetlands of Northern California. Later on, I attended college at the University of California, Davis in Northern California’s Sacramento Valley, earning a B.S. in Plant Sciences. I hunted as often as possible during my time there and got to know the Northern Valley Refuges very well, but was also fortunate to hunt private rice fields as well as habitat/marsh duck clubs in the heart of California’s rice country.

After college, I worked shortly for the USDA under contract and then moved to North Dakota in 2015 to work as a Field Sales Agronomist for a farming cooperative. In 2018 I left NoDak and I moved to Colorado where I met Duncan and Nick and we got to work on Split Reed. I got more into hunting photography around then as I continued chasing waterfowl East of the Rocky Mountains. I eventually returned to North Dakota to continue work in Agriculture. At Split Reed, I am the Web and Written Content Manager.

I hunt waterfowl and upland birds with my Chocolate Lab, and I also hunt whitetail and travel west for mule deer, antelope, and elk. I’m an avid wild game cook and I continue to photograph hunts and wild animals in wild places.
